My current work stems from a visceral need to work with my hands and a love of the vessel form. Working on the wheel using porcelain I explore its modern, minimalist and sometimes abstract variations. In order to bring out the beauty of the material without distraction, I work with pure and simple lines while leaving the exterior unglazed. To contrast the simplicity of my forms, I choose glazes that are rich and complex. While some pieces are small enough to fit inside the palm, others are much larger and prefer to inhabit spacious environments. The vessels are tactile and generous spirited, luring those near to see, touch and connect with their calm, yet strong presence.
I was born and raised in Istanbul but my path led me to live some of the most significant and formative parts of my life in Boston and Bali before finally moving to the French part of Switzerland.
