Craft is fundamental to the way I produce objects and images; in the creative process of making I find a kind of alchemy at my finger tips. My approach to making drawings, prints or sculpture is intuitive and has a light touch, and the aesthetic often toys with the border between art and design.

My work is inspired by how we experience the world around us. It’s an attempt to dig deep and bring out the hidden beauty of a material or an overlooked aspect of the world. I often push a material out of its normal use or make links between different processes, for example darkroom photography and ceramic glazes. With this approach I find existential content in simple geometries and minor things.

Past works include a collection of sketches and impressions of my surroundings: these are my attempts to arrange thoughts about perception and re-interpretation. New aspects are continually added to the work, improvised according to the resources to hand.

I really enjoyed working at Foundation Bruckner and feel very grateful to have had this opportunity, it was wonderful to meet other artists and ceramists. The studio is light, peaceful, very well equipped and the studio support was excellent. I would highly recommend Foundation Bruckner to anyone with a ceramics project.
